Stanford White Gallery is proud to work with Greg Drinkwine, a Master Gilder specialized in crafting exquisite 19th and 20th century American frames. With a passion for art cultivated during his formal training at the Art Students League in New York and L'Ecole Albert Defois in France under the guidance of Ted Seth Jacobs, Greg found himself drawn to the beauty and craftsmanship of frames during his time at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This fascination led him to acquire the necessary tools and materials, and he began creating masterpieces that now adorn museum walls across the nation.
MEET THE MASTER GILDER
Greg Drinkwine's exceptional talent was recognized with his first solo museum exhibition in 2011 at the Nevada Museum of Art, titled "Triumph of Craftsmanship: Arts and Crafts Frames by Greg Drinkwine," which was sponsored by the Wells Fargo Foundation. His frames were showcased as unique works of art, exhibited without paintings to accentuate their intricacy and craftsmanship. Since then, Greg has framed countless paintings for prestigious museums, auction houses, period collectors, artists, dealers, and fine art restorers. His esteemed clients include the Coeur D'Alene Art Auction, Crocker Museum of Art, and Nevada Museum of Art.
Beyond his artistry, Greg has also shared his expertise by giving lectures on framing to audiences at institutions such as the Nevada Museum of Art, Crocker Museum of Art and the Society of Fine Art Appraisers San Francisco. As a visionary in his field, Greg is eager to collaborate with other talented individuals to create unique modern frames inspired by influential figures like Stanford White. Greg's ultimate goal is not to merely imitate but to innovate, bringing a fresh perspective to the art of frame-making and creating extraordinary frames that will define our era.
